Men Using Politics and Spiritualism

TO LEAD PEOPLE ASTRAY

Beloved of the Father,

Peace be unto you in Christ’s name. During this time, when tensions are high worldwide as to the direction which the nations are headed, it is very easy to become anxious. We cannot deny that the United States, until the very close of probation, will be leading in the kind of intrigue which shall steer international affairs. Therefore, the instability and extremism we see going on in the U.S. will have people the world over on edge. The economic, political and social instability there is at a height to which hardly anyone among the common populace could have imagined. We are at the point where “big tech” has outright banned the yet sitting U.S. President from digital mass communication channels. Many others who hold to similar views, pejoratively labelled “right-wingers”, are likewise being purged from popular social media. Whatever the decent initiatives which were put in place by the outgoing President—and by decent initiatives, I mean things which Bible-believing Christians could respect—he has at the end of his term now been the recipient of two impeachments. Many who supported Trump’s presidency or policies do not know how their lives will fare under a new political regime which seems to view them as the new enemies of the state. The rioting, the protests, the lockdowns, the restrictions, the face-masks, the vaccines, the “pandemic”—the French Revolution-like chaos is building upward and upward while the future seems totally uncertain. As the instability rises in the U.S., the trouble disconcerts nations, people and activities worldwide. This is the unpredictability to which most of us—not being among the elites—are being subjected to as the days and weeks go on.

With such a spirit of anxiety pervading the common world populace at present, it is very easy, especially for well-meaning people, to cling with the hope that things must turn around soon. And there is nothing wrong with hope; what we must ensure though is that we have a Christ-centred hope to get through these times. Why must our hope be specified as Christ-centred and that only? Because Satan can take advantage of worldly hope. When men and women cling to a worldly hope, they are much more susceptible to the deceptions of Satan appearing as an angel of light. Let us recall some timely prophetic counsel from our Saviour, so necessary for us to consider today:

Matthew 24:3-14,21-25 (KJV)>>  3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. . . . 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before.

I beseech you, beloved, to take notice of the fact that throughout our Saviour’s prophetic discourse, He warned most repeatedly about deception. In four separate instances of this discourse, He mentioned the word deceive; such falsehood was certainly something He counselled us to watch for and not be caught up in. Lying would certainly be the order of the day, and it would be so pervasive that even the elect would be at risk to be drawn in.

Deceivers fill the void left by worldly fears

Now, why do I sound warnings along this line during this time? Because as said earlier, on account of the uncertainty of the current situation worldwide, people are subconsciously on edge about their present welfare and the future. In this state, they can become desperate to cling to any glimmer of hope which would bring back some normalcy to their lives. And they are very willing to listen to someone, anyone, who presents a case for normalcy which facilitates their ideals. Unfortunately, this is the very stomping ground upon which false Christs and false prophets can advantageously enter, to the point at which the very elect can be deceived. This is why the warning has to be sounded.

So let us proceed to lay these issues down in a plainer and more specific light, as it applies to us today. In the last few months, especially following the November 2020 US election, many persons have come to the realization that an ungodly agenda is being allowed to have full sway, in the US and worldwide. Mr. Trump had seemed to be the best option many persons had placed their hopes in, in order to, as they would say, “drain the swamp” of corruption and wickedness in high places. But now, with the present circumstances before them, it seems Trump will not retain power. It seems that a polar opposite political and social regime, fully embracing of the ongoing austerity of the “pandemic”, is now to be given free reign. Many people who stood alongside the ideas which Trump represented are so perplexed about the future; many are in denial that elitists who pose such danger to human welfare, could be allowed to overthrow the hope which Trump had promised.

Here cometh the False Prophets and Profiteers

And now, in a time of desperation for those who are hoping that their present nightmarish anticipations will end, here cometh the false prophets! Here cometh the ones who will say, “Trump will still be president for another term, and he is just fooling the elites to bring them to justice in a matter of days.” Here cometh those who will say, “The swamp is being drained undercover, and behind the scenes arrests are being made of many high-profile people, including politicians and the Pope.” Here they come saying, “Sit back and relax, everything is going to be okay, the good guys are in control and will bring stability back to the republic and the world.” To many concerned ones, this is a welcome panacea to the seemingly hopeless direction they see panning out. But sadly, many of these declarations of forthcoming peace and safety, are only a deceptive tickle to the itching ears of those cherishing a worldly hope.

Now, these false messengers don’t say outright, I am Christ, or I am a prophet—that would not deceive many people in today’s context. Remember, the element of deception—the hiding of true intent—is key. So instead, the false messengers say, I have “intel”, “special sources”, “insiders”, “secrets informants”, who are giving them the latest updates on what is about to happen. They make predictions based on what they claim comes from these “sources”—who conveniently can never be named—and this stirs eager enthusiasts to place blind faith in these wishful pronouncements. Then afterward, when inevitably the “intel” and predictions do not bear fruit, they just push the prediction further into the future and excuse the so-called “intel” as being something as fluid or interpretative in nature. Is this not the same tactic of false Christs, false prophets and time-setters from time immemorial? Always pretending to have hidden knowledge which will be fulfilled if you keep faith in their personality? And then never addressing the discrepancies of their continuous propositions? Well, this is the kind of thing that Christ implored His true believers to look out for in the last days.

Deceivers by Name

Let us strike plainly at some current examples of false messengers. Britons Simon Parkes and Dr. Charlie Ward, both linked to the ‘QAnon’ movement, are chief among them. Especially since the ongoing chaotic aftermath of the US elections have these two men received a huge traction of followers into the millions. Take one of these videos recently, having nearly two million views within days:

False Prophecies and Suppositions

I cannot speak definitively to Robert David Steele’s credibility just yet, but as for Parkes and Ward, they have been exhibiting much of the very hallmarks of false prophets as expressed above. Always having “inside sources” with “new intel”, constantly promising that pro-Trump forces are working and accomplishing very monumental things behind the scenes, and always teasingly predicting what is “likely” to happen in the coming days and weeks. Between them it was expressed that the Pope had been arrested at the Vatican, Nancy Pelosi was arrested at the border, the US Insurrection Act would have been enacted by Trump, and that the mainstream media would have been shut down days ago in order to make way for Trump’s emergency message system, among other bold predictions. Unfortunately, while hopefuls have been waiting with bated breath for these things to emerge publicly, hard evidence has proven much to the contrary:

Hard evidence like this suggests the Pope was not arrested over the weekend:

Hard evidence like this suggests that Nancy Pelosi was not arrested at the U.S. border:

And well, mainstream media still continues unabated, and no emergency messaging system nor Insurrection Act has been enacted by Trump, as far as evidence goes. That is just a handful of things which should cause people to beware.

These False Messengers are involved with Spiritualism

But what we who are striving among the elect should have be aware of from the onset of these esoteric pro-Trump movements, is that these foremost messengers are all involved in spiritualism. They openly promote new age concepts. Simon Parkes’ own show is called Collective Consciousness. He gives testimony, still even available on YouTube, about his personal encounters as a boy with green aliens whom he considers family. The details he gives are much more bizarre than my summary. You cannot make this stuff up:

Dr. Charlie Ward is no different, having expressed that at age 23 he left the Plymouth Brethren, a Christian denomination which he described as a “religious cult”. Dr. Ward covers spiritualism very much on his shows and interviews, at times seeming to promote Christ, but really alluding to the spiritualistic Christ:

True Christ versus False Christs: Where does our refuge lie?

At best, if any of these men have given Christ any form of endorsement, it has been the new-age Christ of their own making. It is a false Christ that they tolerate, alongside Buddha, Brahma, or any other among the new age gods. These things alone should admonish God’s faithful elect; these things alone should dissuade us from listening to these men and their ilk. Even if some of their musings or predictions were even partially accurate, if we are following the Bible, such things should not add an ounce to their credibility. Satan is allowed at times to work miracles and events in his favour. We have no time to seek out what is going to happen from spiritualists of any kind. Remember the words of Isaiah:

Isaiah 8:19-20 (KJV)>> 19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? 20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

The divine instruction to Elijah, in response to the spiritualistic folly of king Ahaziah, is also a timely correction:

2ndKings 1:15-17 (KJV)>> 15And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king. 16And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. 17So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken.

Understand that the king of Israel Ahaziah was injured and sick, and instead of seeking the Lord God of Israel for help, he requested his messengers to enquire of Beelzebub the god of Ekron, as to whether he would recover from his disease (2ndKings 1:2). Ahaziah made a grave error in looking to other “sources” outside of God and His Word. Are we making a similar error in these last days, being concerned about the future? Are we looking through a worldly hope? Are we relying on the inside scoop from the false prophets, guided by spiritualism? Christ pronounced it was possible for the elect to be deceived through these channels.

The Scriptures and Spirit of Prophecy our only Safeguard

Let us go to the sure word of prophecy for hope in these last days. The Bible alongside the SOP is our only reliable solace. We are living in a time when we cannot rely on human agencies to tell us the full truth about anything. So much false news is going around— some to scare us, others to build up a false sense of worldly hope. It only makes sense right now to trust God’s Word, and the confirmation of it from primary sources. We do not know what direction the world will be turning in the immediate, but Christ has already given us the assurance that He knows the end from the beginning. He knew of these and other perilous times to come in these last days. He said:

Luke 21:17-19 (KJV)>> 17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19In your patience possess ye your souls.

Beloved, only Christ can help us. No world leader, including Trump, can rescue the world from whatever God allows to come upon it. QAnon, and whatever promoted “liberty-loving insiders” cannot help us. Who is to tell whether it is the same enemies of truth who are behind these popular liberty movements? With the level of deception these days we can hardly tell. Only by God’s hand can anything be done. If it is His will He can use the human agent to fulfill His cause. Yet at the end of the day God is still in control. Let us do the present duty before us—to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus—and leave the consequences with God. Let His Word, and not the daily news be our compass and guide. This is truly a time for the patience of the saints to be exercised. Let the promise of Christ be fulfilled in each of us as we go forward:

John 16:33 (KJV)>> 33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

 May God bless you. Amen.

Shared with you out of love, in the service of the gospel,
