He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
Psalm 101:7
In Psalm 101, King David makes a pledge to rule his royal court in righteousness. Knowing that piety begins in the home circle, the wise king applied the same guiding principles to his home life. Truly, this vow of Israel’s sovereign should be the law of every householder:
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. Psalm 101:2
Yet the prudent king did not stop short in requiring that his conduct alone be acceptable. Surveying the baleful work of the wicked stirred a righteous indignation in his heart. Feeling the responsibility of one who must give an account, the king vowed to expel from his court the wicked person, the slanderer, and the proud man:
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. Psalm 101:3-5
David recognised that the influence of such persons was calculated to corrupt not only himself, but his family and the nation. It is thus that David chose Nathan the prophet as his closest advisor and friend, a man whose influence proved to be a savour of life to both himself and the nation on multiple occasions.
He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. Psalm 101:7
As the king expelled the liars from his court, so ought we to cast out deceitful workers from our homes. While liars may not be physically present, they may nevertheless enter our homes through television, radio, or print. The perversions of worldly music, magazines, and Hollywood movies are the more obvious means through which the wicked may present themselves in our living rooms. But the most pernicious of all ‘the work of them that turn aside’ in modern times is widely unrecognised.
The events of 2020 exposed the mainstream media for the deceitful workers they are. Around the clock, so-called journalists broad-cast spells of fear and hysteria through lying reports and fake video footage. After inducing worldwide panic, the same prostituted themselves to pharmaceutical companies as the means of persuading the world to receive a poison which they are now admitting to be the cause of excess deaths. Yet in the heat of the hysteria, they slandered the unvaccinated as the cause of the continual spread of the so-called virus.
Once your eyes are open to the boldfaced lies and deception practiced by these modern mediums, to habitually tune in to the so-called ‘news’ is to permit the wicked to dwell within your home. While people may say that they do not believe everything they see on the news, the events of 2020 speak otherwise. It is a rule of the human mind that ‘by beholding we become changed’, and we cannot with impunity expose ourselves to the wiles of professional liars actuated by Satan. Said David:
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. Psalm 101:6
There is of course a difference between habitual mainstream news watching and research conducted to compare world events with the yardstick of Bible prophecy. Rather than indulging in the endless carnival of worldly entertainment calling itself the news, our eyes should be upon ‘the faithful of the land’ through literature and video of a godly and edifying character.
