The Governor Among the Nations

For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. Psalm 22:28

Satan is declared to be ‘the god of this world’. By believing his deceptions and choosing sin, the world has elected him as their ruler. But God has not stepped down from His throne above the firmament, and no matter how many votes Satan has on this earth, no part of God’s creation is a democracy. While God has permitted Satan to have jurisdiction over the wicked for a period of time, Jehovah’s rule over heaven and earth is firm, for ‘the kingdom is the LORD’S’.

And yet, as the evil man conducts mass murder, ‘he hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it’ (Psalm 10:11). The agents of Satan comfort themselves that God will not call them to account for their sanguinary crimes. While they know something is coming, that old serpent has them so deluded that they even boast, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves’ (Isaiah 28:15).

When Michael stands up, the world will have approached well-nigh universal apostasy. But even if Satan and his agents at that time have a 99.9% approval rating, the Lord shall say to them: ‘Your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it’ (Isaiah 28:18).

In that day it will be known to all that the Lord has reigned over the earth since day one of creation. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness’ (Psalm 47:8). When Christ appears, ‘he shall shew who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords’ (1 Timothy 6:15).
